Roy Tuscany skis Sugarbush 12.27.08

April 3rd, 2009 1 comment

Roy was severely injured on April 29, 2006 while skiing at Mammouth Mountain, CA. He overshot the landing of a 70 foot jump by 21 feet, breaking his back and paralyzing him from the waist down. Roy was life flighted to Reno, NV and underwent emergency surgery.

Roy’s had several surgeries and setbacks, but through it all has maintained an incredibly positive attitude. After 2 1/2 years of rehab Roy made it back to his home mountain Sugarbush VT, where this footage was shot on 12.27.08 on a rainy, crappy day that most people wouldn’t even go outside on. The smile on Roy’s face would make you think it was a sick powder day!

Skiing with Roy are Brucifer Boyle, Bob and Nancy Hennessey.

The sickest powder day ever at Sugarbush?!?

February 19th, 2009 No comments

I don’t know what happened Friday night, about 6-8 inches fell around town, starting around 3pm. But somehow up on the mountain they got FEET of the fluffiest snow I’ve ever skied. Patrol called it 18-24 new but I’m 6?3? and it was waist deep in the woods where I could find untracked snow (beautiful kids & daycare cutting into my trail-freshies in the morning).

Win Smith, Parki, and myself have been skiing Sugarbush a long time and all agreed it was the best day ever anywhere, which is saying a lot. Simply have never skied snow that was so deep yet so light.
